The Nike “Mac Attack” was first introduced in 1984 as tennis legend John McEnroe’s signature shoe. It was a staple of attitude, innovation and style cherished by everyone who saw it in action. 30 years later, the silhouette was set to make an anticipated return, but to a generation who didn’t get to live through John McEnroe’s rage-fueled glory days.

Back then, he was the embodiment of unapologetic attitude with his shoes symbols that represented those qualities. We partnered with Travis Scott, contemporary champion of rebelliousness, to rock the Nike Attack alongside the OG himself. Blending past and present, this team-up honored the roots while connecting to audiences of today. Pickleball may have also made a cameo.

‘Rebel Like The OG” was the first expression of the campaign’s modular mantra. ‘Rebel Like’ would go on to serve as a verbal foundation that aligned the launches of new color ways around the world—including Paris and New York Fashion Weeks—within the unified product strategy.
